If you have been waiting for something fresh in Path of Exile 2, this is it. Grinding Gear Games just confirmed that patch 0.4 is called The Last of the Druids, and it is introducing the brand-new Druid class. This is not just another tweak – a new class can completely shake up how battles feel and how players build their characters. With a name like that, you can almost picture wild magic, animal forms, and nature-based attacks. And of course, there is already chatter about what new weapon types might drop alongside it. Could be huge two-handed axes, or maybe something a bit more primal to fit the theme. If you are already thinking about gear, this might be the perfect moment to check out PoE 2 Currency so you are ready when the league hits.
You will not have to sit around long for details. GGG is planning a livestream reveal on December 4 at 11:00 AM PST, and that should be our first look at the Druid in action. Expect footage, breakdowns, and a peek at other patch 0.4 features. Then, just a week later on December 11, the new league goes live. That timing means anyone following closely will have just days to plan their build before diving in.
Even better – if you are still on the fence about POE2, there is a free-to-play weekend from December 12 to December 15. That window is open to players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Three days is not enough to master the game, but it is plenty to get a taste of combat depth and skill customization. You could try different playstyles, maybe even level a Druid far enough to see how it feels before committing.
No need to worry about losing what you earn. Grinding Gear Games confirmed that all progress during the free play event will carry over. When POE2 eventually shifts into full free-to-play, your character, stash, and gear will be exactly where you left them. Since Path of Exile 2 will run on a league-based system like its predecessor – each lasting roughly four months – anything built in The Last of the Druids will later move into the permanent Standard league. So you are never really starting from scratch. If you are thinking ahead, getting some cheap poe 2 currency could give you a nice boost when the league starts.
